  • 1.  No close button on Symantec Endpoint Protection window on Mac

I have installed Symantec Endpoint Protection client on a Mac OS X machine.  The user opened the Symantec Endpoint Protection application and now cannot close it.  The application can be minimized but there is no Close button for the window.  Since the toolbar/taskbar (whatever they call it on a Mac) is already pretty crowded, we don't want this window's icon constantly displayed.  It can be removed with "Quit" but does that mean the application is no longer running in the background?

No, there is no red 'close' button for the window.  You just Quit the UI.  The application and protection is still running.  (SAV for Mac behaved this way, too.)

ETA: If you want reassurance that protection is still running, look for SymAutoProtect under All Processes in Activity Monitor on the local machine.
