    Hi

We're running SEP 11 on an SBS 2003 server.

Everything was running fine (for over a year) until I noticed the clients had all lost their 'green dot' in the system tray.

They are still updating the latest AV definitions but in the client when you go to: help, troubleshooting, management - the clients are saying the server is 'offline'.

I can see the clients in the SEPM but again there is no green dot. If you look at the properties of the client the SEPM can see and update all this info - so there is communication between client and server.

This is the same for new clients (using a new client install package) and existing clients using an old package - which did work perfectly fine for over a year.

I've looked in the file 'sylink.xml' and verified the server settings are correct.

No system changes/policy changes have been made during this time (I'm the only administrator on the network).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Jo

What version of SEP are you using? Can you upgrade to SEP MR4 MP1a?

Btw, can you post Client System Logs?

    We're running version 11.0.2000.1567

What I don't understand is that even though the green dot has disappeared the clients are still communicating witht the server because they are still updating virus definitions and running scans - even if I change the policy settings.

I'll try MR4 MP1a - but looking on the boards this product has it's fair share of problems. If a client was working perfectly well - why did it suddenly stop working across the whole network? Would that not point to a server issue?

I re-started the SEPM service on the server - all clients then started showing their 'green dots'. Suppose I should have done this initially, anyway problem solved.

Good for you sh35 but in the long run, what could have caused a restart the SEPM service.
