This issue has been solved. See solution.

Is there a way to configure a policy (or SMTP Prevent server) so that files within a winzip are detected for File Type or File name match rule?  I'm interested in NON ENCRYPTED winzip files

The winzip file is already in the support list of DLP. You can add a file type detection rule and find winzip format in the list.

Hi jeff,

nothing special to do. DLP inspects winzip content so you can define a standard policy with file type and file name rules and it should work.

Steph you are correct. My testing must have been flawed. It is working now and I have several other policies detecting content within zip files.  I must have had a "geriatric" moment.
