 This forum is probably not

This forum is probably not the best place for this topic.  Personally I would get some free anti-virus, anti-spyware program to scan your computer.  Its possible a virus is causing the problems with norton.

I dont see a problem with it

I dont see a problem with it but your in the wrong thread.  This really is for Altiris Helpdesk related material.  You might get some better answers if you find the Norton thread (if there is one).

As referenced in your other thread

which also wasn't Altiris or Endpoint Security related please visit the Norton Forums for support.

Probably the wrong thread but...

If the guy is asking for help, we could at least try and point him in the right direction.

You are using Windows Vista and you got a weird pop-up.
It works in safe mode, but not in regular mode.

Put that all together and you have an "outside influence" rejecting/preventing you from removing whatever bad thing it is.

Now a file with extension .DLL is a link to other files and tells the system how to use those files and their associations in order to function properly.  Microsoft would not use a file name that long, or that meaningless.  Thus it must be a bad file.  Doing bad things.

Start by opening a Command Prompt (Black window, blinking cursor).  You can do this by going to start -> run OR start -> Search, depending on the view of your vista.
In this Run/Search box type: CMD and then hit enter.  This will open your command prompt.

Next in the command prompt, type:

regsvr32 [missing portion of your path]\globalroot\systemroot\system32\MSIVXmloynnhyvrqbvwhiacikxpqurwtoramv.dll /u
ensuring to specify the complete path to the file.  The /u at the end is very important

This will unregister the DLL from your system and the system will no longer know what to do with the malicious file on your system.  Next, locate the file and delete it.

Once these steps have been completed, download a spyware remover.

Adaware by Lavasoft
Malwarebytes Antimalware
Spybot - Search and destroy

To name a few.  Run any one of those and see if it helps your system at all.

You can also try going to ADD/REMOVE programs and locating Norton in the list.  You should the options to "Change or Remove".  Selecting change, or generally selecting remove will prompt you with the choice to "repair" your installation.  Try doing a repair Before removing the application.

Than try running it again.  Chances are it will work.  You may be required to reboot somewhere in the middle.  Not sure.

Hope that helps...

Good luck

The correct path to the file should be...

regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSIVXmloynnhyvrqbvwhiacikxpqurwtoramv.dll /u

Sorry, should have put it in the first time.

Try that.

Why this is the wrong place for your post

Hi Mystique,

of couse Symantec would like to help you but it does not mean that you can open a discussion everywhere. This is not to exclude you, it is exactly the opposite, you can obtain a better support if you open a discussion in the right place for your product and for your level of knowledge.

It is true that Norton is under Symantec but we have different product lines. The Norton products are for home users, the Symantec products are for enterprises and they are totally different products for totally different customers. This section of Symantec Forum is dedicated for the AntiVirus for enterprises, here all peple are IT administrators, consultants, engineers, technicians... very advanced guys... for sure they can help you but if you don't know how to move from C:\USERS\BELLA> to C:\Windows>, it means that  you will face several communication troubles in this community.

For this reason some people already suggested you to open a post in the Norton forum where the "language" is more similar to yours.

Regards,

PS: to move from a folder to another you have to learn the command cd.

Regards,

Giuseppe
