Norton Endpoint or the Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition
Created: 04 Jun 2010 | 3 comments
We have 20 PCs/Laptops and will be putting in a SBS2008 sever. I am not sure which of these two products are more appropriate. Currently we have Norton 2008/2010 protecting the clients and the licenses will run out before we get the server installed so the protection product will already be in place for some clients before the server - this may affect the choice.
Can anyone advise?

Norton is a consumer level
Norton is a consumer level product that does not offer the management capabilities that SEP 12 SBE offers.
If you want client control and reporting capabilities then SEP 12 SBE would be your best choice.
Look to these links for details on both products.

Another option
Seeing as the cost would be almost the same, as a user myself, I would recommend the SBE edition for the administrative features. They are definitely nice to have and save a lot of time in the long run.
Something else you may be interested in though would be Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition.

It is a little bit more costly but comes with SEP SBE aswell as mail security for exchange and desktop recovery software (which works great).
Remember Norton is only for
Remember Norton is only for Home Use..where False Positives can be taken care..
However if you are running any company you will not want any kind of false positive detection that would stop production..Go For Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business.
You can manage it centrally so it will save more Bandwidth consumption..so it will save more money and time when compared to Norton.
VMWARE-- SEP 12.1 vs McAfee vs Trend Micro
