I need help with a problem I am having:
For the first time, I created a Ghost 2003 Backup disk with DOS 7.2 Boot Disk on the CD. Ever since then, I cannot access the CD/DVD drive unless I put a Ghost Disk in the Drive. With any other disk, I get the error message "Cannot Access Drive M. Incorrect Function". I have tried the FAQs on this website and went to "Chat", where I was told that my product (Norton Ghost 2003) is no longer supported.
I went to the site that is supposed to remove all 2003 products, and it did. But I still have the same problem.
This is my last hope. I sure hope someone can help me.

I don't know how comfortable

I don't know how comfortable you are dealing with the inner guts of your installation, so my recommendation may be all too easy for you.
There are quite some free tools that may help you finding the culprit. I would download Sysinternal Suite, very helpful set of utilities. Use ProcessExplorer and sort by Company Name, perhaps you find something from Symantec being still active. If so, use Autoruns to identify the way this is started. If you can't find something, you may try Unlocker. This handy toy shows you blocking handles for a specific soft- or hardware. Still in trouble? Perhaps you can fix it simply by removing your drive from the Device Manager and adding it again with a search for new hardware. After that I would skim through the registry for the rest of entries with "ghost" in their names.

Norton Ghost 2003

Thaks very much. This has put me on the right track, but I don't know how to remove the CD/DVD Drive from the Device Manager. I tried several ways, but no success.
I am not a PC "expert", but I was able to follow your instructions. It seemed to me that your last suggestion would be easiest for me, so I would appreciate some elaboration.
Thanks again. George...........

Hello, Proceed like

Hello,

Proceed like this:

Start > Control Panel > (if you are not logged on as Admin, Press "shift" + right click on) System (then "run as" and input your admin credentials) > Hardware > Device Manager

There should be a tree-structure, where you can go to "CD/DVD drives".
Locate your CD/DVD drive and right-click on it. Choose uninstall, confirm all questions with "yes / ok" and restart your PC.

After reboot, the "New Hardware Wizzard" should search for new drives.

Thats all ^_^

Greetings
