Nortons Corp. ed. 8 causes Offshore Nav. to Crash

    Hello,

I work for a surveying company.  We are currently using Norton's Corporate Edition 8 antivirus and it works just fine.  We also have a program called Offshore Navigator, by Maptech.  Something Norton does is causing Offshore Nav. to crash.

Once the program is installed it works just fine, then something changes that causes the program to fail. I've run Registry tracking software and can't pinpoint the issue.  In order for the program to start up it needs to open a vessel.  After it fails you can run a reregister program, provided by Maptech, to reattach the registry settting and after a restart of your computer it works fine until it happens again.  It doesn't crash at any special time to when something specific happens.  It might work just fine all day or crash every 15 mins.

If the computer isn't receiving auto updates it works just fine.

I've tried different settings, exclusions, nothing seems to work but disconnecting the live updates and making the end user manual update the antivirius list.  This is not a option.

I've talked with Maptech and they are no help since they claim it's a setting in Nortons that is causing the issue.

    Any ideas would be nice.

    Thanks

    Mike
