This has happened to several of my customers. They copy data to an external drive and later are unable to read the files (they show up with red padlocks). The thing that the customers have in common is that they did not set a default certificate or default password prior to copying the files to the drive. It was my understanding that even in this situation, the user should be able to access the data they copied to the drive, as long as they are using the same certificates (in this case on their CAC, and in their certificate store on the computer), as they were when the data was copied. Is there any solution for getting access to these files?
Thank you.
