  • 1.  Not able to install SEP

    Hi

    Platform WIN XP

    SEP tray icon disappeared.

    When i try to open it from START >PROGRAMS>It gives an error message  "Failed to start the symantec management client service.Error code returned:0*80070005"

    Unable to start from services.msc

    Tried running a repair but it again popps up with an error "insuffiecient privileges but its a administrator login."

    Seems like a threat.So performed power eraser by selecting bootlog analysis which ended upin Blue screen.

    Tried with last known good configuration and got the windows back.

    Uninstalled the SEP with cleanwipe utility.

    Now not able to install,After clicking on install it does not show up any further screen.

    Tried changing the windows installer service to automatic but no use.

    Installed the windows installer 4.5 but no use.

    Can anybody provide me a better solution or whats the root cause of this.

    run the .msi file ; 

    if it fails

    run the setup.exe it should give u a sep_inst.log file, in temp directory post it here plz

    Hello,

    What version of SEP, have you installed??

    Make sure you are carrying the Latest version of SEP.

    Check this Article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH131519

    This issue has been fixed in SEP 11.0 RU6 (11.0.6000.550).

    HI Mithun

    Its 11.0.6 version.Also tried to run the sep support tool but it goes on running,Does not stop.

    Also i am suggesting you that if you are facing this problem in other systems. Pls go with below step first

    Stop the Service "Symantec Endpoint Protection"

    Rename the folder of "Symantec" path- C:\Program Files

    Copy the "Symantec" folder from working system.

    Then startup the services. "Symantec Endpoint Protection" / "Symantec Management Client"

    Definatily it will work because I have tried the same in 50+ systems all are working..

    Please upgrade the latest version in that 12.1, its resolving yor issue.
