Hi All,
I am facing an issue at one of my windows server machine that, I am not able to start the "Symantec Management Client" service. After starting the service, within a few seconds it gots disabled again. Please suggest.
Can you run the symhelp tool on it:
Troubleshooting computer issues with the Symantec Help support tool
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO80839
Did a reboot of the system fix it? What's the exact version?
Hi,
Thank you for posting in Symantec community.
I hope you are trying to start the service through Start --> Run --> Type 'smc -start'
If not helped, I would suggest to repair the SEP client. Go to add/remove programs and perform the repair.
@_Brian- No, reboot didn't fix it.
Any other option available?
run the symhelp tool on it to see what shows up
What's the exact version?
@Chetan - I have tried repairing it also. But, It didn't work even.
When you tries to open SEP client GUI interface do you see any error message? In that case share the screenshot?
OR
Run Symhelp to find possible root cause.
What's the SEP client version?
@chetan- It says symantec service is stopped. After starting it again, the SMC service after a few seconds got stopped itself.
Enable SMC debugging
How to debug the Symantec Endpoint Protection client
@_Brian - ok, enabled the SMC debugging. Now what?
Try starting the service again to see if it fails...that should show up in the logs then.
If possible can you reinstall the SEP Client?
Might be the intial distribution to device might be corrupt. Try uninstalling the existing client (if it won't fully uninstall use cleanwipe as last resort). Reboot machine.
Then try pushing a new package from the SEPM or export a package from SEPM and re-install on the machine.
reinstalled sep client & it worked fine. Thank you guys a lot for giving your valuable commnets.
Thanks for the update.
