  • 1.  Not all clients appearing in console?

    Posted Feb 18, 2010 01:31 PM
I have gone through the list to make sure they are installed and they are installing correctly.  However, not all of the clients are showing up in the Ghost Console.  I need them to do this to take part in tasks.  But about twenty or so are not showing up.  They are showing they are successfully connected to the Ghost Server, but they are not showing up in default or any of the folders.  We are enterprise and should have enough licences to cover it.  It shows number known is 422 and the number registered for is 434.

    The program version is 11.5.0.2113

The computers we are using are Dell Optiplex 755s

Please let me know what other information you need and please help! :)

First off your GSS is very out of date, you need to run the live update until your on 2.5.1.2266.

Second I would suggest running the remote install again and then see if they show up.

The main reason this happens to us is because GSS uses the mac address to identify PC's. So if we remove a PC, change the PC name and move it to another location, it still shows up under the old name until a refresh is done.

So I suggest running a config refresh on the entire folder and have them update then look around for the missing PC's.

I'll try the live update, thanks for the heads up.  We don't move computers around unless they need replacement because of a hardware malfunction or repair though. :)

EDIT:  I also remembered that a lot of the ones we're having problems with are going through Cisco phones.  Some of those show up but about 2/3rds do not.  Is that an issue, too?

After an update, reboot, and a config refresh, we're back up and happy.  Seems the good ol' Ghost was confused.  Thanks for your help, Cobra7!
