  • 1.  Not all files encrypted when copied to Endpoint Encryption USB stick

I am testing the latest trial version of Symantec Endpoint Encryption v.11 in the lab. That's what I have done so far:

    - Created and installed the MSI packages on a PC for: Management Agent Client and Removable Media Encryption Client (with the setting to encrypt new files)

    - Connected a newly formatted NTFS USB stick to the PC

    - Copied a few DOC, EXE files to it from network drive

    - Created a new TXT file on the USB stick

    - Disconnected the USB stick from the PC and connected to another PC

I found that the EXE and TXT file were ncrypted however the DOC file wasn't encrypted for some reason.

Is there any way to enforce the policy so that ANYTHING that had been copied to the USB stick, need to be encrypted?

When the installation package is created, you should be able to specify if any file types are not to be encrypted.  If you selected "All new files" to be encrypted, then any file moved to the USB should encrypt.

If you did select "All new files", and did not specify any file types to be left unencrypted, you should open a case with support, as that could potentially be a bug or defect.

Thanks! I didn't ticked any checkboxes while creating the package to exclude any files so I guess it is bug.

I will try contacting the support now. I just thought since we haven't purchased the software yet, they won't help us.

We are testing the software in a lab before we make a decision to buy it.

Hi Kyle, I was going to contact support but haven't figured out how I can do it. As far as I remeber, the software wasn't in the dropdown list when I was creating a ticket. In addition to this I wasn't able to find any documentation regarding setting up certificates for file recovery. It looked like I would need to spend too much time on this so we put the project on hold.
