Not recognizing Cleaning Tape in Autoloader

Created: 29 Jan 2005 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments

I am ruuning Backup Exec 9.1 with an HP SSL1016 DLT Autoloader with 16 tapes in it.

I have configured the autoloader with a cleaning tape in slot 1 and have inserted the tape into that slot.

In BUExec, Slot one is designated as a cleaning slot, but the properties do not show it as a cleaning tape. The Media Property is set to DLT CLN, but the description does not come up as CLN:xxxx as I expected.

I ran an Inventory job, but this did not change anything.
If I Right Click on Slot 1, I get only Scan, Import, Export, Refresh and Properties. On all other slots I get all options.

How do I get the system to recognize the media as a cleaning tape?

I already configured it that way, and tried it again, but the media still does not get a CLN: XXXX label.

It seems that taking away emailing tech support isn't working for the customer since I can't seem to get any answers regarding problems on a product I have had for less that 3 months.

Is there someone from Veritas who can take the time and support this product?

In order to troubleshoot the issue, kindly carry out the following steps.

How to recreate tape drives and autoloaders in VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) for Windows Servers

Uninstall the existing device drivers and reinstall the latest Veritas drivers. Run tapeinst.exe to install Veritas driver.
"TAPEINST.EXE" is located in the directory x:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT (TAPEINST.EXE" is an automated installation application for installing tape device drivers )

As an additional reference, kindly refer the following technote and re-configure cleaning job.
