This issue has been solved. See solution.

I just upgraded to NS7 and am trying to find out if there is any documentation available on creating filters?  The new query builder is much more confusing that the old one.

Also, is there any way of converting the old collections into filters other than cutting and pasting the raw sql query.

looking for help with the same thing

So far I am completely hating NS 7's query builder.  Being able to easily create dynamic, custom groups of resources is the single most important feature of Altiris, and I have yet to figure out how to do it within NS 7.  From what I can tell, I can export NS 6 jobs and import to NS 7, but they may or may not work, and cannot be edited inside NS 7.

Unfortunately not

Hi there.

As far as i know, you cannot use the old collection SQL queries in NS7, because of the table name changes etc. However, when you upgrade from NS6 to NS7, collections can be converted to filters, but will not be dynamic and will be read only.

I also only recently started using NS7, and my initial thought was "What a crap way of creating filters" - Not true.
I am building custom filters like there is no tomorrow, the nice thing about learning this way is that you could then also build reports the exact same way.

You need to firstly select your query builder mode, then change your base query from resource to computer, thereafter you need to select the fields you would like to work on and then add your filter expressions. Just like in the old NS6 collections, but a bit different.
Believe me when i say - you'll love it!
