On SMP 7.5, in Settings > Agents/Plug-ins > Symantec Management Agent > Settings > Global Agent Settings, on the Events tab, NS Client Pkg Info Request is disabled by default. Why? Information is scarce on why it would not be enabled. Does it cause too much traffic? Is it unneccessary? Is it used for troubleshooting only? The help states it is "Generated internally by Notification Server when Symantec Management Agents request information on packages". Wouldnt this be helpful?

It would be extremely helpful if Symantec would provide more information on WHY they have disabled options by default. Or at least give a cautionary note that this would create lots of unnecessary traffic.

Anyone else have any idea on this? Do you use this in your environment? What are your reasons for using it or not using it?

Yes it was disabled back in NS 6.0 SP3 I believe, because it was found that too much traffic was being sent to the NS by each NSA, causing it to grind to a halt when trying to process it all.
