NS Inventory Tasks don't run
Hi,
I'm trying to set up NS for the first time and am running into some problems. To start using Inventory Solution, I want to to run the Inventory Task "Recreate Full Inventory". I Enabled the task and edited it to only include my test collection (contains 2 computers), changed it to Manual Run then hit Apply. When I check the status tab, my 2 computers show up under the "Not Run" filter and the "Attempt time" is also blank. When I run the inventory from the client machine by navigating to AeXInvSoln.exe on the NS share, it works fine and sends over the inventory. Any ideas on why it doesn't work when I try to push the task from the NS? I also tried scheduling the task with the same result (not run). All the altiris services are running on the NS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I must be missing something here.
Thanks,
Kristen

Are you using v6 or v7
You mention that you are using the latest version, but your terminology sounds more like v6.

NS Inventory tasks - update
Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
Yes, we are using v.6.0.6074. If I run the hardware inventory task by going to Manage -> Jobs, it runs but takes a while to complete (about 15 minutes on 1 computer and 45 on the other). I went back to the Inventory tasks and it finally shows "Success" under status however it seems to only run when scheduled. If I try to run it manually, it will say "Not Run". Is there a way to run it "on demand" from Inventory tasks?
thank you,
Kristen
Managed Jobs....
That is using Task Server, and you will need to ensure your clients have all the necessary agents (Task Client, and possibly the Software Delivery for Task Client) to use that.
If you use the standard tasks, then you will have to schedule the policies on the tasks and wait for the clients to execute them.

Worked now
I see what you mean. I misinterpreted "Manual" as meaning you could run on demand. I had to install the Client Task Agent and sub-agents and now the tasks worked when run from the Task Server.
Thanks for your help!
