NS6 to NS7 Export Question

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I'm testing an export from NS 6 to 7 but I only want some of the data. I'm ready to export but I would appreciate help as I don't want to miss anything, or include 'dud' data.

All I want is;
-: The machines in the inventory including associated GUID's.
-: My sites, locations, and department information including subnets etc.

I'm using the exporter tool included with SIM.

I've selected;
-: Notification Server > Resource to GUID exporter
-: Notification Server > Resource exporter
Plus of course all the default "Greyed out" choices.

I can't find the fields for sites and departments to export those. I'm presuming they are named something like
-: Notification Server > Resource Type Exporter.

Can someone please confirm this or point me in the right direction.

Many thanks.

Export everything, then be selective on your import

AdrianC,

Export everything for your NS6 installation.  Then you can be selective for what you import.  I believe that Sites are specific item you can import.  I don't have the migration wizard open in front of me but you acn selectively import the sites.

Export everything, then be selective on import.

What he said :)

Especially if you are upgrading on-box, you don't want to be stuck wishing you had exported something and didn't. The import tool can be run as many times as you want, and you could even 'trickle-in' the information.

not able to use ns6 database

If you do an on-box migration your NS6 database is no longer accessible.  The migration/installation process will change your database so you won't be able to go back.
