We are trying to upgrade from NS6 to NS7 and we get to the Install Readiness Check and cannot get past the following error:
Dell_Compatibility Install Readiness Check
Install Readiness Check DEll_Compatibility failed to run properly

We have the latest version of SIM.  We are running Win Server 2k3 SP2 and SQL 2k5.

Do the log files give any

Do the log files give any additional details?  Are you performing on on box or off box migration?

Are you trying to install the full Dell Management Console?

Make sure the version you are trying to install is the 1.02 version. Previous versions could not be installed on Service Pack 2 versions of the Symantec Managment Platform. Are you interested in other products than the Dell DMC? If so, install them first, or only install the SMP, and come back and install the other pieces later.

Hi Guys,We getting the same

Hi Guys,

We getting the same error as described above except this is an HP Server not Dell.

The Altiris Server is only used for Recovery Solution 6.2 and we are looking to upgrade to Recovery Solution 7.

I cant continue with the Install as the 'Readiness Check' fails with the DMC101 and DMC102 error messages.

Do i need to install the HP management console?

Which logs do you view? The normal logviewer doesnt list the installation logs and the only other log i can think of is the following;

C:\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\InstallHistory\PerfLogs

Regards Steve

It doesn't matter what the hardware

you are installing on it is. It is referring to the Dell solution. Do you have the latest version of the SIM installer?

The SIM logs are located elsewhere

See Altiris KB43175.  Should be one of two areas:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\<logged user used during the installation>\Local Settings\Temp\SIM Logs
  • C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Logs\SIM xxxx-xx-xx xx-xx-xx

Are you checking any boxes prior to this screen?

I see there is a back button, but I'm curious as to why it's even evaluating Dell Solutions if you don't have them installed.

Did you find the SIM logs?

If so did they shed any light on it?

Hi jim, i've managed to get

Hi jim,

i've managed to get the SIM logs, listed the portion below where it complains about the DMC
To be honest, it doesnt help much. I have checked ALL solutions installed under NS6 and ONLY Recovery Solution is installed.
There is no Dell Software installed on this Server either (its an HP Server)

If the readiness check is

If the readiness check is looking for the DMC anyway, should i just  install the Dell Management Console 1.0.80 and see if this then 'passes'
I'm not sure what the impact would be with this being on an HP Server....

Sorry, i've noticed i have

Sorry, i've noticed i have the option to install SMP Service Pack 3. I cant do this through the console because of the 'Install Readiness Checks' so is this just a matter of downloading the SMP SP3 installation file and running it on the server?

Can we download this from anywhere else like we used to with Solutionsam?

You can skip the readiness checks

although it is strongly recommended not to. See section 2.16 of DMC FAQ. If this is a production server, I would also consider calling support if this is a production server, as this error might be masking something more serious.

Paraphrased here:

To disable the check for SIM prerequisites:
Add the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\AIM to the registry.
Create a DWord called IgnoreInstallPrerequisites and set the value to 1.
To enable the Next button if any of the install Readiness checks fail:
Add the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\AIM\InstallReadinessCheck\
to the registry. Create a DWord called EnableNextbutton and set the value
 to 1.
