NS7 SP2 upgrade
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 3 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hello,
We installed an NS7 server, then upgraded it to SP1. It was quite good, usable, but no more, due to several bugs.
To get rid of the bugs, we installed on it the SP2: But as there was a Symantec Endpoint Protection installed on the server (!), the upgrade failed.
We read the KB Article 48019, but too late...
We have deactivated the SEP protection, then relaunched the SP2 install. But now, nothing works. The server is corrupted and we cannot put it back on its legs.
We are trying to repair the compoments, but it fails.
Has anyone experienced that?
Any help would be welcome!
Best Regards,
David

Did you have a database backup?
If so, you could try a disaster recovery scenario. In this aspect, I would also consider a call to support, due to the failed upgrade (and known issue).

NS7 repair
Hello,
Finally, we did the following steps and get the server back. We are still waiting the call back from the Symantec Support...
- reinstall SIM
- uninstall SEP
- new execution of NS7 SP2
- CMS repair from the SIM
- NS packages repair
- NS reconfiguration
Now we can notice that the performances are a bit better. But we are still waiting to see how the sp2 agents behave in production.
In French, this kind of situation is called "essuyer les plâtres". The product is so fresh that it is still wet.
Best regards,
David
Error after SP2 update
What error did you get after installing SP2. I tried updating to SP2 last week. The installation itself was successful but when trying to connect to NS through the browser I got an error stating that the services weren't started. Has anybody else had this issue after updating to NS7 SP2?
We're running on a VM so it was easy enough to roll back to the previous snapshot version.
