  • 1.  Numerous clients at least 4 revisions behind current revision

    Posted Nov 04, 2010 11:07 AM

We have about 350 clients out of 3000 that are at least 4 revisions behind. There are approximately 8 sites with at least one GUP. We believe that the GUPs are getting the latest updates. We are at RU6.

How can I get the clients to receive the latest updates?

did u check whats odd between these 350 clients; is the GUP on this site updated?

whats the clients communication mode? push mode or pull mode?

right click on the client and select update content; check if that updates

The client are in Pull mode and unfortunately I am unable to get to the GUP. I know this is an issue and is quite annoying to me as it is restricting my ability to see what is going on with the GUPs.

I have ran the update content command on a number of clients but I need a a way to prioritize who gets updated first. Do the oldest revision, checked in clients get updated first?

The checkin will depend on the interval and the communication, like a first come, first serve type thing.

What you might want to consider is setting the server to "Push".

Update the content on the machines (clients) and that will update their settings.

That might help you in updating the outdated definitions.

there is a randamization period; not all clients will updates at the same time.

create a report for the gup client in that group;check what definition it has

I considered using Push to the clients but the customer where I am at was against it thinking that the push will bring down his network. Most of the clients that would be pushed are on the same backbone as the SEPM.

    Thanks for the info.
