Office 2007 issue with Carbon Copy

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have users who use Carbon Copy on a daily basis. We're still on 6.1.2003.  When they remote to a Windows XP workstation running Office 2007, they are not able to see all of the options in Office 2007. An example is when they click on the Office Button on the top left, normally you get New, Open, Save Etc. Through Carbon Copy, they don't see that.

Any thoughts other than "upgrade?"

Thank you.

Try switching mode

Have you tried using Carbon Copy in Asynchronous mode?

Asynchronous is better for graphically intense applications.

 Hi Brett, I didn't try

 Hi Brett,

I didn't try Asynchronous, so would be interested to hear if that helps.

If that doesn't work though your options are going to be limited. We had this issue, and upgraded to fix. Is the reluctance to upgrade a maintenance issue by the way, or something else?

I seem to recall there being

I seem to recall there being a particular KB article that mentioned the Office button specifically, but I can't find it now.  I think it is due to that menu not really being a traditional menu, but using some DirectX features (which gives it that "shimmery" effect when you haven't yet clicked on it since installing Office 2007).  Ian suggests this is fixed in CC 6.2, so that would probably be your best bet for a resolution (I haven't confirmed it myself, as we still have CC 6.1 as well!)

Ian: Done any treasure hunting lately? :)

Thanks,

Hi Kyle, I can confirm that

 Hi Kyle,

I can confirm that CC 6.2 does support layered windows, which is the core problem with the Office 2007 menu. Incidently,  most remote control apps didn't support layered windows when Office 2007 was released, so this was a big problem for SMS, PCAnywhere, VNC etc too (the helpdesk monkeys couldn't either see the new menu, or could not click on it).

As for treasure hunting, when in Oxford my treasure is beer. And last night I was most successful.... ;-)
