  • 1.  Official Recommendations for SEP Client Config on Servers?

    Posted Jan 29, 2013 10:56 AM

As part of my rollout of SEP 12.1 to my company's servers, the question has been raised:  do we need/want all of the various modules that come as part of the client installation?  SONAR is new to version 12 and we are not familiar with that.  We do know that NTP has had to be removed from some of our servers as it caused problems with our applications.

That being said, is there an official document or position held by Symantec regarding deployment of the various modules that come with the client?  If Symantec had recommendations, that would be very helpful.  Do we need them all?  Why?  That sort of thing...

    Many thanks,
    Mark

    Hi,

From SEP 12.1 all three features are supported on all the Windows operating systems.

Symantec recommends to use all three features i.e. Virus & Spyware, Proactive Threat Protection (PTP), Network Threat Protection (NTP) on client OS.

While installing on Server operating systems customer should take a call.

Refer this article in that case.
