This issue has been solved. See solution.

On the media server Windws Server 2008 R2, Backup Exec 2010 R3 are running. I have created some shared folders on a NAS and it is used as Backup-to-disk folders by backup jobs. Every time I restart the server these Backup-to-disk devices go to the offline state. I have to manually reset them to online. If I forget to set them online the backup jobs fail. Is it a feature or can I configure to auto online state?

Hi there,   Backing up to a

Hi there,

Backing up to a NAS isn't the easiest thing to achieve. Read the TNs below for more information:

BE 2010 R2 HCL

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH137050

NAS Compliancy with BE 2010

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH14963

Run the B2Dtest tool to verify that the NAS is supported:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH69107

You can also try the following:

1. Making sure that the BESA account used for the BE services is also the same as on the NAS.

2. If your NAS supports iSCSI, turn that on and map a LUN to the backup server. THis will allow you to back up to a locally attached drive.

Thanks!
