This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi

I facing one problem , I am backing up few oracle data base files from one mount point.

In this particular File system there 13 dbf files are present. But only 12 files are getting backed up and one dbf files is left every time.

Even in /usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list i have not mentioned this particular file.

Why this is happening any idea??

Also where i can get the details (any log directory) about files backed up??

Pls provide your expert advice.

Thanks & Regards,

How are you backing up the

How are you backing up the databases - hot Oracle backup via RMAN or normal filesystem backup?

If filesystem backup you should ensure that databases are down.

Also check that root has read access to databases as filesystem backups are done by root.

Create /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bpbkar log directory on client to trace filesystem backups.

Please supply info about your

Please supply info about your backup selection list and exact location of database not getting backed up. If database is in a different filesystem, it will not be backed up.

Consider the following:

Filesystem 1: /data

Filesystem 2: /data/data1

If your backup selection says '/data' then nothing under data1 will be backed up. NBU does not cross mount points unless you explicitly select 'Cross mount points' in policy attributes.

manual copy possible ?

Can you copy the file manual ?. If possible we know Netbackup should be able to backup the file as well.

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.

Hi,   Is the job finishing

Hi,

Is the job finishing with Status 0 or Status 1. If its 0, then we know that NetBackup did most likely not make a mistake and its been configured in this manner, if its finishing with Status 1, then we can investigate why the file was skipped.

Please advise.

put at the bp.conf file the

put at the bp.conf file the entry

VERBOSE = 5

and retry the backup. Then check again the bpbkar log.
Is the same file omitted every time or it is a different file, randomly?

A good Idea is to put in the file list the /nictstdb/nic_pty_cnd/* and allow the "multiple data streams. Then you will have one backup per file

Check the logs of the backup with the error

Hi,   Turn up the logging on

Hi,

Turn up the logging on the client (add VERBOSE = 5 to the bottom of your bp.conf) and create the bpbkar log folder. Lets see if there is a clue in there.
