    Hi there,

we're using Symantec Antivirus Corporate 9.0.2.1000 and liveupdate on clients is configured to download using an unc path e.g.. \\server\scsupd$ from our internal update server. We had some issues regarding access rights to that folder, but we fixed this by creating a null share and granted the anonymous user to read from this folder.

The problem we're facing now is when a client is downloading a virus definition update (approx. 30 MB) using the liveupdate function, executed from the SSC, other clients can't access the same update file simultaneously. The second client I started to update fails. If I wait for the first client to finish downloading and start the second one, it successfully downloads the file.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal behaviour using unc paths, or is there an option to make sure several (more than one) clients can download the files at the same time? Should switching to FTP or HTTP download solve this issue?
I don't have a test environment of some sort, so I can't just change this in our production environment, before I have checked what the possible risks are.

Thank you in advance for your response.

    Dennis
