Open Storage License

Created: 04 Dec 2012 | 2 comments

Hi, we are looking at using NetBackup to control disk-to-disk backups from Window servers to NetApp filers.

Can anyone confirm that we will need Open Storage to achieve this and if so does a license have to be purchased?

We currently have NDMP backup running successfully to tape but would like to phase this out in favour of disk type backups.

Thanks in advance.

Are you looking at configuring the NetApp filer as backup destination and not backup source?
Or maybe NetApp with Replication Director?

Please have a look at these 2 sections in NBU 7 HCL and help us to understand your requirements:

OST Secondary Storage Solutions

Supporting Storage Foundation and VCS on Unix and Windows as well as NetBackup on Unix and Windows

Hi, will look at the documentation mentioned.
For info, the NetApp filer would be the destination for the data with the source being a Windows server.
