This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

I am trying to install OpsCenter 7.5 Agent on my Masterserver Server onto a W2K8R2 SP1 Server with newest Windows patches.  It worked well installing OpsCenter + NetBackup 7.5 + 7.5.0.5 Patches on seperat Machines 2 weeks ago but now i have The Error 1719 on both Machines (one physical, one virtual).

It's the same Error like described here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/opscenter-75-server-installation-issues-w2k8r2-error-1719-windows-installer-service

I am running the BROWSER.EXE as administrator, which launches me into the install GUI screens.  I select Installation, and then OpsCenter Server, complete the first few screens, select CUSTOM INSTALL and change my install locations to the D drive of the server.  After selecting install I immediately get a pop-up box saying Error 1719 - The Windows Installer service could not be accessed etc. etc.  As this is a single Master Server / Media Server installtion I am installing the OpsCenter onto the Master Server - however I have also tried on another W2K8R2 server and I get the same results.

I have trawled the various posts around this error, and checked that the Windows Installer Service is running, re-registered the msiexec dll (both system32 and syswow64) but to no avail.

There was no Problem installing NBU/OpsCenter 7.5 + 7.5.0.5 on this Machines before. I saw that some Windows Updates run until the fresh Windows install early June. But now the error occours also when I try to install newest 7.5.0.6 OpsCenter Patch and install a new OpsCenter 7.5 Agent from the OpsCenter 7.5 GA DVD and nothing helps.

Thanks for further ideas,

Christo

I have had to disable UAC, DEP, monitoring agent (SCOM in our case), anti virus and altiris deployment and managent agents to be able to install netbackup. Also seen that hanging installations from other products can mess up install. Does the install log contains other errors/warnings than the one from the pop up ?

I have exactly the same issue.

I try to update OpsCenter from 7.5.0.5 to 7.5.0.6 on Windows 2008R2. NBU Master and OpsCenter are on the same host.

Hello again,

i think i found the solution! I hope that anyone could recheck it. I am sure that this is the Key.

There is an issue with the "Windows Update for Windows (KB2670838)"!
Uninstall it and reboot and try again.

I go the painfull way of updating und uninstalling Windows Updates for an R2 SP1 manually, step by step with reboot any time...to find it out.

I verifyed it on my 2 productive NetBackup OpsCenter (virtual) und Masterserver (physical) Installation and on an fresh installed Virtual Testmachine, which gets the Windows Updates directly from the Internet (not from Domain/WSUS).

I googled something out that the updates has something to do with prechanges for IE10...
I will open a Symantec case next week to let find Symantec and Microsoft a solution for this problem.

Hello,

The other solution (workaround!): just do a silent install of the package.
