  • 1.  Optimum Virus Scanning Configuration in SEP?

    Posted May 07, 2009 02:32 AM
I have SEP 11.0 MR4 deployed in my organization. Every morning i get atleast 10 calls complaining about the PC being slow and sometimes taking ages to startup. All this started after installing SEP Agents on the client machines.

The current configuration for Active Scan and Weekly Scan is
Weekly Scan - Friday 3 AM
Active Scan - Daily 5 AM

What is the optimum configuration for Weekly Scans or Active Scans? Is there something which i am missing or something i need to finetune?

Hi Amrut, I think we need to check wether if it's SEP that is causing the slow of the PCS.

Please check this link, very useful with scheduled scans.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/auto-protect-vs-secheduled-scans

In our case we do scheduled scans over the weekend. But if I got report on workstations with high infections, I changed the scheduled scan every lunch time on them.

    HI

Th eperformamnce of the machine depends upon the configuration and the process running on the machine. As have seen ur configuration but have a doubt that ur network clients will really be active at that time? If not try to configure scanning during lunch hrs.

SEP does not take much cpu usage while running scan even a real time scan is running while the pc operates normally . please check the ram config of the client pcs .Also check if they are using some ERP SAP that takes a lot of system usage . As such sep does not make the system slow
