Hi,

We are trying to back up an oracle database on a remote server. We have the Oracle agent installed but Backup Exec is giving us an error regarding the windows Nt agent. We are just backing up the oracle database no windows files involved. We have no problems backing it up from another backup server using the same version of backup exec. Exact error message included below.

Unable to attach to ORACLE_ORACLEDB/PROD.

V-79-57344-33899 - The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent.

Make sure that the Remote Agent is installed on the target computer and is running.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Dear all,
I have the same issue V-79-57344-33899.
I tried to follow the instructions listed in doc

http://support.veritas.com/docs/258645

as Rucha Abhyankar suggested,
but without success, nothing different happened.
Does someone have other tips for me?
Thanks in advance,
Riccardo

Rucha,
I'm experienced the same problem using a BE server 10.0.5200,
which is unable to connect to an oracle agent.
Both the BE server and the Oracle server machines are running
windows 2003 server standard edition.
I tried to follow ypour tips related to the doc you addressed,
but nothing new happened.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance, regards,
Riccardo Simonazzi

Same problem over here. Only in our situation, it all happened to go bad after installing Service Pack 3.

Hope Veritas will come soon with a proper solution.

I am running:

Backup Exec for Windows Servers
Media Server: Version 10.0 Rev. 5484
Administration Console: version 10.0 Rev. 5484
Installed Updates: Service Pack 3
Installed licenses:Backup Exec for Windows Servers
Agent for Oracle Server
Agent fot Microsoft Exchange Server
Robotic Library Support
Remote Agent for Windows Servers
Backup Exec 8.x and 9.x Agent for Unix

Backup of Oracle databases rsults in error:
Backup- ORACLE_EUFWDB Access is denied to Remote Agent. Check the login account for the specified device.
Final error: 0xe000fe29 - Authentication failed on connection to the server. Make sure that the user account has the

appropriate permissions and that the password was typed correctly.
Final error category: Security Errors
For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-65065

On the remote server I installed the Remote Agent for Windows Servers and the Backup Exec Agent for Oracle Server version

5.030 / product version 1.2

I can select the Oracle database in the selection list of Backup Exec. I am able to see and select all tablespaces. Resource

Credentials are all tested succesfully except for the database itself.
When running the backup job the above mentioned error is displayed and backup job is canceled.

How is it possible I can select the tablespaces with the same resource credentials which is denied in the backup job?

I was able to make successful backups of the Oracle database BEFORE installation of SP3. And there are no changes in

username and passwords.

Please provide me with a proper solution.

Thank you.
