Oracle server backup

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi All,

Here  we are going to upgrade our oracle server's firmware. I need to take its backup via backup exec. I am having license of backup exec. But not sure how to use it.
I need best practise doc if available with snap shot. and steps how do i do this easily.
Its bit urgent...

May i know what version of

May i know what version of Oracle and backup Exec are you using?

Also do you have license for Agent for oracle?

 We are using backup exec

 We are using backup exec 10-D and yes we have license for oracle backup.

Dear All,

Here i am going to install new Backup Exec server, and replace existing one. Now with old server we all ready have agents deployed on client server's.
Now my question is:-  1)  how is possible to connect old agents of existing server with newly installed server.
                                         2) How i can deploy my old policy and shedule in my new server.

My client servers are 1) Oracle, and rest are windows server's.

Please give me guidence....

1)  Not if the new and old

1)  Not if the new and old media servers are running different versions of BackupExec

2)  If  you copy the existing media server to the new box, and then upgrade that, all your current job, media ser and schedule info should be included in the new server

I follow all steps as they are mention in it...
I am doing migration of same application on new O/S.
I am facing problem in only sql database connectivity..
Sql is not contacting with bedb file's.
And the main thing is that which steps u gave me its for symantec backup exec not for veritas beckup exec.. meanwhile there is no such kind of diffrence.. but if u think its have then please guide me..

What version of BackupExec are you running?

Are you using SQL Express or an instance of MSSQL?

Now same has been done, I migrate server successfully.
Now can u please tell me y its not showing oracle agent. My old server was running on same time when i check. But my requirment is
like all client of old backup server comes automatically on my new server with out doing installation of new remote agents.
How i can do this same..???
please reply its urgent because today we will test it.

Don't know why the Oracle agent didn't tranfer over

You can always add the Oracle serial in yourself.  if you can't find yourcopy, you should be able to call Licensing and get it again

Thread open for all

I put it in installation time when i was in process of installation...
Is it possible if my old existing server was running then agent will not update on another server.
What root cause can be.. i dont know.. but its critical issue for my client after transffering process they can't wait for another troubleshooting.. so please guide...

Only thing I can think of

Only thing I can think of -

If the remote agent was publishing to the old server, change it to publish to the new server.  If that doesn't work, 'fraid you are down to a paid call for support
