original calendar item doesn't get deleted

Hello.
There is a option to strip the attachment . Other than,
Is there any way to delete orginal calendar item, leave the shortcut on calendar item just like how mail archive works ?
My understanding of archiving of calendar item is by default, to create archived item on vault store, and leave the original item on the exchange without removing it. Is that right ?
