Why we get orphaned media in nbrbutil -dump output?
Is this a theoretical question or do you have a real issue?
We are happy to assist with REAL issues. Just show us your 'nbrbutil -dump' output along with real allocation in 'vmoprcmd -d' output.
We have no idea 'why' because we are not onsite to see what is happening in your environment that could cause this. We just know how to fix it.

I have an interview.

You have proved to everyone reading this forum that you are in no way ready to manage any NetBackup environment. After all this time, you should be able to answer questions, and not ask the same questions over and over using different user names.
If you scroll down, you will see a link called 'Training'. PLEASE use that.
Once you feel confident enough about your own skills, use the 'Assess Your Skills' link on the right-hand side of the Traning page. You will find Netbackup 7 and Netbackup 7.5 assessments.

Don't forget to "Mark as Solution" if someones advice has solved your issue - and please bring back the Thumbs Up!!.
Backup failure is less likely as that should clear down allocations cleanly following the failure - would only happen that way if the backup failure was caused by a process failure on the Master or Media Server
And RLeon's reply was ignored - classic!
Please, I beg of you - ignore what looks like easy points and STOP enabling these threads. I know you want to be helpful and we all appreciate help but this isn't the kind of help that helps ANYBODY regularly visiting Connect. We will try to work harder on getting these threads deleted pre-emptively before you see an opportunity.
