    Hi,

I am working on proliant server ML310eGen8V2, which only contain one 500G HD drive with Raid configuration disabled.

I installed the OS to this HD and want to create image by using Ghost WinPE3.

After boot up server on my bootable winPE3.1 DVD, it shows: "detected an inconsistence between OS volume and loocal disk size".

If I ignore the above Message and continue to backup the OS,  Ghost asks 2 resources to backup

Drive 1. the Local disk size 476940MB

Drive 80. OS volume size 8033MB.

I understand that OS volume should be the entire that mounted to the server, at this point I didn't attach any external storage device to server, but I am not too sure why OS volume size is so small?  I then selected backup from "Drive 1"  and restore back to Local as well.

After restore successfully, the server failed to bootup from HD with error 0xc00000f. It seems like the Local disk doesn't have OS?

Can anyone help on this? Thanks.

    1. What version of Ghost?

    2. Did you add the necessary drivers to your WinPE V3 to support the hard disk chipset?

    3. From the WinPE command prompt, can you see and read the different volumes?  eg using Diskpart.

    4. What O/S are you imaging? If Win 2008x, this has a similar two partition structure to Win 7 IIRC, so are you imaging and restoring both the main partition and the small hidden partition at the start of the drive?

    Hi, Thanks for your reply.

    1. The Ghost is 11.5.1

    2. I only add the NIC card driver in WinPEV3, As I can image and restore the HD, so I didn't add other chip set. I will check any hard disk chipset needed.

    3. in Diskpart, yes I can see thumb drive, DVD drive and harddisk, and I can perform DRVLOAD command.

    4. I am imaging Window Server 2008 R2 OS, when backup it only display local drive 1 and OS volume Drive 80. I can either select one of them when imaging. How to  image and restore both the main partition and the small hidden partition at the start of the drive?  Please advice. Thanks.

Try creating a disk image rather than a partition image.

In Diskpart, the list disk command will show you each disk that has been detected, but if you identify the disk number of your hard disk, enter  Select Disk x  (where x is the hard disk number), and then enter LIS PAR - this will list the partitions on that disk.
