You can read up general NBU with OST config in the NetBackup AdvancedDisk Storage Solutions Guide .

Data Domain config with NetBackup can be obtained from your DD reseller or online : https://my.datadomain.com/
You will need to register in order to access documentation.

I think even if you are below version 7.5 most of this guide will still be useful.

HI VPS ,

Please follow the below steps

Add data domain ip into the /etc/hosts file of media server.
1, Install capacity based license on Master Server for OST (must have flexible disk or Open storage disk
feature enable)
2. Install OST plugin on media server
(download the latest plugin from data domain web site my.datadomain.com)
a.) We need to stop nbrms for OST installation.
b.) After installation , we need to start nbrms and check for plugin using bpstsinfo –pi.
3. Configure Storage server
nbdevconfig -creatests -st 9 -stype DataDomain -storage_server mdc<data domain device name> -
media_server <Media server>
Storage server < data domain device name> has been successfully created
4. add credentials - run below command if version is below 7.0 as we are running 6.5.3
tpconfig -add -storage_server <data domain device name> -stype DataDomain -sts_user_id <DD ID> -
password <PASSWORD>
5. On Data Domain:
#user add <USERNAME> password <PASSWORD>
User "ostuser" added.
#ost set user-name <USERNAME>
OST user set to ostuser. Previous user: none set
#ost disable
The 'ost disable' command aborts running NetBackup operations.
Are you sure? (yes|no|?) [no]: y
ok, proceeding.
OST disabled.
#ost enable
OST enabled.
# ost lsu create <NAME>_lsu
Created LSU <NAME>_lsu

6. Configure Disk pools
name disk pool with a -dp suffix
Microsoft Office
Word Document
7. Configure Disk Storage units
Disk type -Open storage (Datadomain )
8. Create policies and make sure that MULTIPLEXING is set to one in schedules for better duplication.
(filesys show compression : this command will show the De-Dupe at Data Domain lev
