We recently installed Symantec Enpoint Solution for SBS2003 on one of our clients, and they have realized that ever since the install, some emails with attachments to yahoo.com recipients are never recieved with no error messages what so ever.  has anyone encountered this issue? does symantec mail security monitor and block outbound messages?  if so, where can I find these blocked messages?

Most likely it is because of email tools installed on the clients. (If it is caused by Symantec)

You can remove this through Add/Remove programs and customizing the install to not include Email Tools. You aren't really opening yourself up in doing so because anything that would try to access your computer, (as in an email virus) would be caught by our real-time scanning.

    I hope this helps!

Well this would really depend on your setup. If you have the client version of Symantec Antivirus installed on your Exchange server you are going to want to do what I stated earlier anyways. Email tools are not designed to run on an Exchange server. You are also going to want to have exclusions set for both the SBAS directory and IIS directories.

Installing Symantec AntiVirus on mail servers

If you are just talking about having Brightmail on your Exchange server we only tie into IIS as a single event sync. This is generally bound to an IP and port combination. Brightmail does not know direction of mail flow. So whatever comes to that IP and port, we are going to scan. If you somehow had both inbound and outbound on the same IP and port then yes we would be scanning it.

I hope this clears things up a little. If you have more questions please feel free to ask.
