Outlook 2003 on Terminal Server prompts to install XP patch...

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

We have Outlook 2003 installed on several W2K3 Ent Terminal Servers. Mostly, it works fine. However, every time we try to open an archived mail message it prompts for the path to install "OfficeSPSop.msp". After clicking Cancel a few times, it goes away and the message opens normally.

That seems to be an Office XP-related patch which won't install on Office 2003.

Anyone got any ideas please? It happens on all our Terminal Servers.

EV7SP5 client and server with Exchange 2003.

Thanks,

- Alan.

bit of a strange one.  I take

bit of a strange one.  I take it you did an upgrade of XP to 2k3?

Did you try and complete uninstall and then install of Office 2003?

Didn't try a re-install yet.

But another team installed the TS. I think they did an upgrade instaed of a clean install. Was hoping there would be a quicker fix because the TS are all in production.

To be honest your best bet

To be honest your best bet maybe looking at an ms forum or contacting MS, I certainly have never heard of such a thing, typically the only thing you have to worry about in a Citrix or terminal services environment is the vbs dll files not being installed

I would say: Try to remove

I would say: Try to remove office completely, remove the EV plugin.
Restart your server, install Office 2003 from scratch (dont forget the outvbs.dll) and install the EV plugin.

I'm sure I have seen this

I'm sure I have seen this before, but I can't remember how to fix it.

Did you go the Microsoft route?
