    good afternoon,

I'm trying to send an invitation using Outlook and it just sits there on the Outbox, please note that emails have no problem.

What should be disabled in order to send invitations?

    Regards,

go to add remove program on the problem machine

select symantec endpoint >change >modify follow the wizard >custom >disable outlook scanner

follow the wiz reboot the problem machine and try sending invitation

    Above is for Client computer

If you have sep manager installed then go to policies tab >antivirus and spyware policy >edit the policy which is applied in the network

look for out look protect uncheck all the option

    and then assign this

i would suggest you to try this on few machines first and then implement in the network if it works

    all the best

    Hi Swapnil,

This is not a fix at all, we are just disabling MS Outlook scanning which defeats the purpose of having SEP to scan incoming and outgoing messages.

The only fix that I now see is to get a refund for the licenses purchased for SEP SMB Edition and move to another solution.

    What a waste of time!

    sad

Outlook 2010 has dropped support for Exchange Client Extensions (ECE). Our Outlook AV plug-in is based on ECE, so is not compatible with Outlook 2010. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179110.aspx#BKMK_WhatsRemoved

One thing to remember is that the email scanner is a redundant scanner since it will scan the files once they are copied to the file system anyways.

SEP 12.1 has an optional Outlook scanner that is compatible with Outlook 2010's technology.  No earlier release will work with Outlook 2010.

There is a known issue with sending scheduled mails in Outlook 2010 when the SEP email scanner is enabled.  This is expected to be fixed in a forthcoming release.  Please do contact Technical Support if you feel you have discovered a new issue.

If there is a mail security product defending the Exchange server, these SEP client mail scanners are of little additional benefit.  If Outlook sends and receives mail directly from an ISP, then the scanner is useful enough.  As Koosah says, though, SEP's main AP components will catch malicious files whne they are active on the OS anyway.

    Hope this helps!

If you agent is communicating with you SEPM then you can disable Outlook Scanner from there also, but this is not recommended. If it is happening for the first time then you can disable it by using smc -stop, for star(smc -start).
