If SEP SBE is not installed then it works as expected I assume?

    Exactly

You'll want to download and run the SymDiag tool on the machine for further error checking:

Download SymDiag to detect Symantec product issues

It may be that Outlook Express is not supported by SBE.

Brian, Outlook Express hasn't been supported by Microsoft since April 2014 when Windows XP support ended.  I'm not even sure where you would look to find out what Symantec says about it.

As a managed services provider, I gave my clients 6 months of leeway before telling them that if a vendor no longer supports a product, then neither can my company.  The liability is too great if something untoward happens.

DoubleGJ, I suggest rather than saying you can't buy this software, you try to convince your client to move to a platform that is supported, and move the OE app to either the cloud or desktop version of Outlook (both of which Symantec.cloud supports).

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional is still available from OEMs and distribution until October 31, 2016 - that's Microsoft's end-of-sale deadline.  Come November 1, only Windows 10 can be sold.

That was my concern, that both Outlook Express and XP, are not supported by SBE, since MS EOL'd them long ago. I was hoping a SymDiag would confirm though.

i know everything you said and i totally agree.
i'ts about 3 years i'm suggesting my customer to switch to another mail software.
May be it's the right moment to do it.
    Thank you anyway.

DoubleGJ, like I said, I gave clients 6 months.  If they were not willing to make the transition, I dropped them.  It didn't matter how long they had been with me, it became a matter of trust, common sense, and finances.

I have just embarked on a similar migration plan for the handful of Vista users - Microsoft ends their support in April 2017.  Only if they don't switch to Windows 7 before the end of October, their transition to Windows 10 next year is going to be an enormous expense, because all of their existing hardware and software is going to have to change.  Plus, they will experience the shock of a radically different way of using Windows...
