     Hello, we are currently running Symantec Antivirus 10( and a few 9 instances) and plan an upgrade to Symantec Endprotection 11 and the ideal is to perform an as transparent upgrade as possible.
    In the lab environment we did notice that pushing a slient install package was very non-intrusive from a user perspective but did not seem to do a very good job at upgrading the existing Symantec plugin for Microsoft Outlook which resulted in error messages and had to be disabled.

    This is certainly not very good so is this problem familiar? Is the install package even supposed to include the Outlook plugin so it is possible to upgrade both the antivirus client AND the corresponding Outlook plugin? Thanks in advance!

    The plugin is correctly installed, it's just old plugin is not removed properly because it's locked when Outlook is open during SEP installation.
    On CD2 in \Tools\CompetitiveUninstall\Other there is a Sav9UninstallFix tool that will fix it for you. You can run it with /s switch for silent run through any admin script.

    Hi,

    Two files needed. First one will be cmd, which has inside.

    del "%homepath%\Local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook\extend.dat"

    regedit /s outlook_registry_delete.reg

    Other one will be registry file, in this case named outlook_registry_delete.reg.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions]

    "Symantec AntiVirus 10.1"=-
    "SAVCORP90"=-

     I have several clients XP and Vista that are experiencing problems following SAV 10 upgrade to SEP 11.0. Problems occur with Outlook, Timeslips. Worldox and several others. Applications slow to a crawl, server based applications run very slow, some won't run at all. Usually, delayed write failure error, invalid handle, occassional blue screen errors and sometimes just locking up.

    If I could get some general guidelines that would be helpful for a start.

    Some are saying disable certain options to correct but that obviously compromises security.

    Thanks
