    Posted Aug 20, 2013 05:10 AM

    Hi all...

Firstimer here so be gentle with me blush

We are using windows XP, Outlook 2010 and the PGP desktop.

PGP Desktop is active.  The user sets up a meeting.  The invitations are sent. The  attendees reply.

      -  If they reply with no message then Outlook is OK and continues.

      -  If they reply with a message for the owner then outlook locks\freezes and has to be closed using Task Manager.

PGP Desktop in deactivated. Outlook fuctions as normal.

What have I missed...  Can someone help and point me in the right direction to resolve this behaviour ?

Thanks for your time, help and patience.

    Regards

    Jim

What version of PGP desktop you are using ?

What PGP functionality you are using ?

Right click on PGPtray icon > Exit PGP services. Then monitor if the behavior is same here ?

Hi and thanks for the reply.

    We are using PGP 9

        9.0.4 (4042)        PGP SDK 3.5.4

We're using the PGP Messaging.  When the PGP service is stopped, Outlook runs as it should.

    Cheers

Please be aware that PGP 10.2 is the first version with support for Outlook 2010.

    Ahhh  Ok.

Saying that, does anyone have any posible ideas as to where to look to see if a resolution can be found.  We do have a number of machines running this configuration and this is the only one that causes this problem.

There was also a bug report for PGP 10.2 Desktop Email with Outlook 2010 when desktop alerts were enabled, causing Outlook to behave the same way as you described.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH175063  has more information on this.  It was supposed to be fixed in 10.2.0 mp3, but it is possible that the same issue might present itself in earlier versions of PGP Desktop.  Try disabling the desktop alerts per the article.
