Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments
OK chaps,
Here is my senario, just built an exviroment for testing and eduction use, it contain 2 DNS srevers, one Exchange 2003 backend server, one Exchange2007 server containg a hub transport role, a mailbox server role and a CAS role. Also created two Enterprise Vault Servers one for amilbox archiving and one for file system archiving.
Al going hunky dory until - trying to install the OWA extentions on the Exchange2007 box, geting the message that teh CAS server role must be installed to install the OWA extensions, but it is installed already.
Oh using Enterprise Vault 8 SP3.
Anyone any idea's.
Many thanks

Hi Pat,
Which value do you have for HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\v8.0\ClientAccessRole on that server? I think that is the problem.
Tried?...... Patrick have you
Tried?......
Patrick have you tried the MSI logging, to see if there is anything more useful in there?

Seen this after upgrading Exchange with Service Pack
Hi!
We have seen this on two different environments after a service pack has been applied to Exchange.
There is some sort of application/feature in Exchange to see whats has to be done to the environment (don't remember the name) if this is run it will show that CAS is not fully installed even though that OWA functions well.
Check this and restart the Exchange server or if that doesn't help reapply the service pack for Exchange and then restart the server.
This has fixed these two customers..
After this the OWA extensions instllas nicely (on Windows 2008 don't forget to run the installation as administrator)
