Package Server question
This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hi,
We have a 300 user site but alot of satelite branches. So Package Servers are very important to us.
That said....one of our Package Servers is assigned to the same SITE as our NS Server. We seem to be having issues with the package server, so i would like to remove it from the SITE.
- Question is, do i need to remove the Package Server AND delete the SITE or do i keep the SITE?
- Will all clients within that subnet start downloading from our NS server the next time the Request Config gets updated?
- There is an option when deploying the Altiris Agent to new PC's, to download from the nearest Package Server. So once the Package Server is removed, will they download from the NS Server if they on the same subnet or will they go loking for the nearest 'other' package server?
Thanks.
You can just remove the
You can just remove the package server. If there are no package servers assigned to a site, the client will pull from the NS. We also have many remote sites as well, so it's always a challenge to decide whether or not we want/need to deploy a package server to sites with lower bandwidth.
If you want the clients to pull from a "nearer" package server, you'll need to manually assign it to that site as well.
