Looking for a solution to the same problem as another user -- I came across this discussion which has since been locked...

since the discussion didn't help much (and from what I gather actually didn't solve the poor guys' problem) I "Googled" further and found the info below
which (although a long & winding road) eventually comes to a solution/concept that helped me a LOT.
I'm posting these links so if someone else is searching for a solution to
"using ghost for partition restore but getting grayed out partitions / drive" (as I'm sure some have) here's a link that will help them understand and/or solve it.
