  • 1.  Partition Issues - Windows XP

    I am trying to capture an old Windows XP image, which has two partitions on it.  We used to use "Ghost Console" to push our images.  We used to have to install a Ghost partition in order to either capture or push an image to that PC.  I can capture the image fine through Altiris Deployment Solution 7.1, but after I deploy it...it fails every time.  I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I can just delete that partition, recreate the MBR to be okay without it, and the PC function fine?  

    This is the Ghost that we use currently.  We are trying to migrate from the old Ghost Console to Altiris.

    Hello,

    At what point it is failing and What error is displayed when deploy image task fails? Can you please share log files. On Client machine you can find logs in WinPe at X:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Logs

    Also in Deployment Solution we need to boot client in WinPE using "Reboot To" Automation task and then execute create / deploy image task on target client.

    I am able to capture the image fine.  The AF's are working fine.  Here is the process I do to capture and deploy the image.

    Creating Image
    1.  Run: "Reboot to Automation"
    2.  Run: "Create Image"
    3.  Run: "Reboot to Production"

    Deploying Image
    1.  Run: "Deploy Image"
    2.  Run: "Reboot to Production"

    Note:  Pretend this is a NEW PC without any OS on it at all.  Assume it's a lab of 100 computers with brand new hard drives.  I insert the AF CD and it loads the drivers and it works great.  The image starts to push just fine, but after it comes back up...I get the error below.  Note...this is also part of my older issue I am still having I posted a while ago.  I just assume it it's the MBR/Partition issue.

    Hello,

    Please try Deploying Image as follow:

    1. Reboot to PXE - As this is new machine without any OS, you can boot this in PXE environment and proceed with deploy image task.

    2. Deploy Image

    3. Reboot to Production

    Let us know your result.
