File Share Encryption

We currently use PGP WDE for all of our home investigators.  We use a passphrase to unlock the encrypted disk.  One of our investigators was able to get into his External HD this morning and now he is unable to get in using the passphrase.  It keeps saying the passphrase does not match.  He was able to get into the hard Drive this morning.  He said that the their were storms and power surges this morning.  It there any way for me to get the passphrase, or we use the same passphrase for all computers.  Is there a way to get something from another computer and put it on this one to get the passphrase working.

It might be able to be accessed by connecting the external disk to another computer with PGP installed.  Although the disk or some files it contains may have become corrupt, the passphrase the external disk is connected to would not have actually changed.  If you are able to access the external disk from another computer, it may then work okay from the original computer.

Did you not set up recovery questions?  Prime example why recovery questions should have been setup - especially if the data on the disk is important

This was done before I came into the company, so I'm still trying to learn PGP and all of the troubleshooting techniques.  I'm getting the HD today, that was my first solution is to plug it into another PGP machine and hope I'm able to get into it.

Do you have a Universal Server?

I have the Hard Drive now, I plugged it in and it's still giving me Passphrase does not match.  Sorry we don't have a universal Server.  Is there a way to get onto this Hard Drive.  I looke at the user for the hard drive at it gives me a ? before the name.

I was wondering if anybody has anything else that I could do to get into this hard drive.  I've tried everything, and nothing seems to work.  I guess this a testament to how good PGP.
