    Hello,

I have a policy set which requires a password to uninstall the Symantec End Point Protection Agent. I like to uninstall the Symantec End Point Protection client using a script. If I use msiexec /x {76B2BC31-2D96-4170-9C44-09E13B5555F3} /qb it will not uninstall as I am not supplying the password anywhere in the script during the uninstall.

What needs to be done in the script or the registry to do an uninstall without supplying a password.

in symantec endpoint protection its not possible..this was possible in SAV.

if you want to uninstall manually
if you are using any other older version of sepm less than MR3
    then try this
    when it prompts for password
    open taskmanager
kill msiexec.exe running under logged in user name; the uninstall will complete
if you want the script to run then u need to disable the password first from the console and then run the uninstall

    you should not kill all the process; you need to kill the one msiexec.exe running under current logged in user that is under your name;
use this tool to remove the SEP and then you instal SEP

this time there wont be any password configured :)
let me know if that works.

Yes it uninstalled parts of Symantec and now the remove option in the add remove programs is gone, I keep getting this runtime error and it is killing me.

Use the following to disable password and remove the product.

    1. Open the registry
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SMC
    3. Change the value for SmcGuiHasPassword from 1 to 0
    4. Restart the SMC service

    Then uninstall the product :)

NB: if its SEP 12 there is no password option for uninstall protection
It seems you have some GPO applied for this particular product or exe file check with GPO
