    What Symantec product are you referring to? Once I know, I can put your question in the proper product forum.

    Everytime we run ghostwalk on win 7 it takes about 45 minutes to an hour or more . It only takes 18 minutes to image the computers though

    Ghost walker should not be used on windows 7 to change SID (or any 3rd party utility for that matter).Please use Microsoft sysprep and the patch has nothing to do with this issue.

    Ok i understand now what the patch is for, but using sysprep is not getting what we want.  We have to enter either audit mode or oobe and we don't want that.  We just want to change the SID on the machine.  We don't want to make another user account or anything along those lines.

    To change the SID you need to use Sysprep for Windows 7. No other choices exist.

    Yeah but doing it this way defeats the purpose of using ghost in our case.  We set up a basic account with stuff on the desktop and make an image of the machine.  We then take that image and deploy it out to many of the same machines to install new ones.  We don't have enough time t go through and make another account on every machine and then set up the desktop.  It would just take up way to much time.  Is there a way to just run sysprep so we can change the SID and not have to go through and set up an account everytime? or make it so we can already have a desktop set up and just make the user?

    Follow th steps mentioned below ,

    On the source machine ,

    =>Go to C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep folder

    =>Run Sysprep.exe and choose OOBE , check generalize and choose shutdown

    =>When the machine is down ,boot it with Ghost boot CD or USB

    =>Capture the image ,which is gonna be a Sysprepped image

    Restore the same to other clients and sysprep is gonna run when machine boots to OS for the first time

    Or check for how to set up a default profile so all users start the same and you don't need to configure your accounts after sysprep.

    cheers.
