  • 1.  Patch Management Client Support Server 2012 R2?

    Hello,

    We are running SMP and Patch Management version of 7.1 SP2 MP1. I have heard that Symantec does not support Server 2012 R2 for use with the client with 7.1 any version. I decided to test pushing patches to a 2012 R2 box and it worked perfect. Can anyone comment that it works for them? I basically don't want to do this to our production environment without hearing that Symantec supports it, or that it works OK.

    According to the Platform Support matrix Windows Server 2012 is not supported for clients on 7.1: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO9965

    Thanks for the response. I realize that, but noticed that Server 2012, and Server 2012 R2 were being patched appropriately when I tested. I assumed Symantec didnt want to put the effort into verifying the product worked with 2012, so they just say they don't support it. I was curious if anyone had tested this and verified it worked OK for them.

    BUMP. I know it may not be common to go against official support, but I see it is working OK and SMP 7.5 was not out when 2012 was officially released.

    Agreed, it does work with 7.1, we ran it too, however, you need to make sure that you include 2012 servers into your filters as by default they are not part of them all.

    However, should you have an issue with a 2012 system, i will be hard getting support on that.

     

    It will be worth the trouble upgrading to 7.5 SP1 with HF4 though, it's a quick upgrtade via SIM.
