I have noticed several patches that are not availabe in the Patch Remediation Center. None critical, but at this point there are 32 important and 8 optional on my Win 7 32bit OS. I understand the optional patches b/c they can be very specific to my hardware, but why are there so many important patches not available. I have seen a few discussions concerning other security patches that have been added to PMImport, but why are there so many excluded? I have included a screenshot of my Windows Updates, and my Patch management reports show my computer is 100% compliant. I am concerned that an auditor is going to do a scan on my network and invalidate my altiris reports as a valid source for patch management controls. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

We have done below analysis at our end.

We have removed .Net Framework and IE 8.0 from windows feature and run Windows update/MBSA, still Windows Update/MBSA is showing the update for .Net Framework and IE 8.0 in applicable list of Windows update.MBSA is showing MS11-027 as applicable but when we tried to install it manually it is showing as “This update is not applicable to the machine”.

Due to which some of the updates are not rolling out on the machine were these components are disable/removed.

KB Article are supported after customer request only.

Solution: please enable the components on machine and check updates will be install on the machine or not.

Problem is still persist please let us know.

Patch Management, traditionally, only supports security updates from Microsoft.  Other updates (e.g. hot fixes) are available upon request.

With the release of Patch Management 7.1 SP1 this summer, you will see a vast improvement of non-security updates included.  Additionally, the number of third party vendors has dramatically increased as well.
