Patches show as "Retrying"

    Hoping someone can guide me here.

    I have just set up a test of patch with 5 XP VM's and tried to push just a few patches.

    I got the policy to show on the client but the patches show as "retrying and have no source path.  I have verified the folders on the client with the GUID as well as the location on the server and there is a valid patch file in there that should be accessible within the folder structure (the GUID's Match too).

    First question, can some of you verify if your "Updates" folder is shared?

    -><Drive>\Program Files\ALtiris\Patch Management\Packages\Updates

    Mine is NOT share and it is listed as read only.

    here are some screenshots

    Client Window

    Patch GUID

    No Source Path

    updates folder not shared. is this correct?

    Updates folder permission

    Here is my Package.xml file from one of the 5 clients with the same issue

    <Package id="{AFFC5657-F092-E8D5-23AC-E907A76216F1}" name="windowsxp-kb2115168-x86-enu.exe" size="0" version="1290034601" remote="false" priority="Normal" status="retrying" minspeed="0" enableMulticast="true" statusDescription="No package sources returned by server">

    Means that the package is not ready on your NS or Package Server infrastructure.

    I don't know how a package may not be ready on NS, but check the distribution update or nightly package refresh schedule.

    I'm agree with Ludovic_Ferre that you should complete several task:

    NS. Package Distribution Point Update Schedule

    or NS. Package Server Status Event Capture Item task in case Package Server used

    and NS. Package Refresh

    It should help you.

    Settings > Notification Server > Resource Membership Update, and click 'Run' next to Complete Update Schedule.

    Then force a configuration update on the client and try again.

    Thanks for the input :)

    Tried this one a bunch of times last night and didn't seem to do anything.

    Trying Ludovic and Sergey's ideas above and will post right after

    I ran the Package Refresh and it has been going for a while.  I am getting a lot of errors in Log Viewer (shown below)  Still waiting on the task to finish but seems much longer than it should be.

    Turns out this was due to IIS being hosed.  I added IT Analytics to my SMp and I think IIS did not come back correctly.  Restarted and I think this specific error is gone.  Still issues with patches but I am running all the tasks in this post over again now that IIS is running.  Will take a little time and will post right after I exhaust everything.

    I tried everything here and no change.  Still do not show a Package Source Location.

    I even tried disabling the Policy, Update Client and re-enable the policy.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

    Please make sure you have this option enabled. If it's not enabled and you have package servers, packages may not download to clients at all.

    Thanks,
    Grigory.

    This is just a small setup, no package servers at all

    Did you ever get this solved?  Curious where this ended up.

    Could it be possible, that you have manually created a site but have no site server in this site?

    If you have only the SMP7 server then remove any existing sites in the Symantec console.
